For anyone who has dined at Tutti Mangia Italian Grill, one employee who is certain to make you feel at home is Alex Delgadillo.
Alex is a 12-year employee and server at Tutti Mangia and a 20-year vet of the family of restaurants that runs Tutti Mangia and its two Italian sister restaurants nearby.
Alex’s career for the family of restaurants started when he was working at a local coffee shop in his early 20’s where he met Tutti Mangia’s current Somlier and manager, Kathy Kemp. He said it was Kathy who convinced him to apply at Spaghetti Eddie’s in Glendora. Shortly after, Alex was on board training side-by-side with Kathy.
“She was very inspiring. She wanted everything perfect” he said.
After working for Spaghetti Eddie’s in Glendora for eight years, Alex remembers when owner, Ed Inglese approached him about making the switch to Tutti Mangia.
“I love customer service, and I always work hard to make my customers happy, and Eddie felt it was a good fit,” he said.
Alex remembers feeling a bit of pressure when he started at Tutti Mangia, the Inland Empire’s premier Italian Chophouse.
“The pressure was on to remember everything. But once I was on the floor, I had it down,” he said.
He hasn’t looked back since.
After settling in at Tutti’s, Alex quickly became a fan favorite. He is proud of the regulars in his station and feels the love when he is recognized while grocery shopping or running errands in and around Claremont. He’s even been invited to customer’s celebrations and milestones, including holiday gatherings.
Alex applied himself, earned the respect from regulars and his co-workers, and says he enjoys himself so much that working at Tutti’s often doesn’t feel like work.
“It’s not a job, sometimes I have so much fun and that’s what matters.”
As he reflects on his years as a server, Alex notes that his main goal, however, is when his customers are enjoying themselves.
In the years leading up to Alex’s tenure, he has learned from management, ownership, co-workers and hands-on experience how to make sure his guests have the most amazing fine dining experience. While Alex is serving, guests are never rushed and invited to stay until they are completely satisfied.
“I give my customers the whole experience, I even open the door for them when they leave. They get the whole experience from start to finish,” he said.
